Meet Corrine Kenner, founder of Museum Writers
Corrine Kenner has spent most of her life looking for stories—and she often finds them in art.
She started her career as a newspaper reporter. Later, she became a magazine and book editor.
She’s now a prolific author. Over the last 20 years, she’s written more than 40 books—fiction and non-fiction alike—which have been translated into 14 languages.
She’s a lifelong student of the symbols and stories people use to make sense of the world, and she earned a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from California State University, Long Beach.
Kenner is the author of Stolen Moments, a collection of stories and poems inspired by paintings at the Dalí Museum in St. Petersburg, Florida.
She’s also the author of The Colors of Light, a companion to the Impressionists Tarot. The deck is essentially a mini-museum you can hold in your hand, illustrated with 78 paintings by Monet, Manet, Degas, and van Gogh.
In addition, Kenner wrote Tarot for Writers, a guide to using tarot cards for creative inspiration, and Astrology for Writers, which taps into the ancient myths and legends of the planets, stars, and constellations. It’s no coincidence that those stories have been illustrated and painted for centuries.
In her spare time, she’s an amateur artist who draws, paints, and takes classes from working artists.
Kenner lives in DeLand, Florida, where she teaches fiction-writing classes and leads monthly creative writing workshops at the Museum of Art-DeLand.
